What is the Craft Sequence?
A spectacular series of (currently) eight books*, one short story and two games by Max Gladstone, who “uses fantasy to talk about our weird modern world in the same way lots of books use fantasy to approach the medieval world.”
There are literal gods (who sometimes die), necromancer-sorcerer-lawyers (who sometimes kill them), gargoyle poets, vampire pirates, dragon jumbo jets, socio-economic-political chaos, ethical dilemmas, space spiders bringing the end of the world, and Elayne Kevarian.
*ninth book due to be published Fall 2025

Vampires are creatures of Craft, and we get to know one - Raz Pelham - early on in the series. Yet, something doesn’t add up; despite how commonplace we’re told they are, we rarely see vampires in the rest of the books. But something tells me we’re going to see more soon…
It’s a truth universally acknowledged, that the order of books in the Craft Sequence is confusing. The author himself has said as much.
But have no fear, intrepid reader – we have pulled together NINE different reading orders for you to choose from.
